Baby Season Is Here — and the Incubators Are Full
Every spring storm knocks nests out of trees, and every one of those nests seems to find its way here. This week alone: four robins, three house finches, two chickadees, and two mourning doves.
Nestlings eat every 30 minutes from sunrise to sunset. That’s not a figure of speech — it’s an alarm going off 28 times a day.
If you’ve found a baby bird, please check the Found a bird? page first. Fully feathered fledglings on the ground are usually fine and their parents are watching. The naked, pink, closed-eye ones are the true emergencies.
What we need most right now: mealworms, paper towels, and heating pads without auto-shutoff. The donate page has the details.
